Dani Cirignano took her first yoga class as a freshman in college and hasn’t looked back since! She believes yoga is so much more than stretching, bending, and manipulating your body into funny shapes; it’s a practical method for improving your quality of life on a moment-to-moment basis, from the physical body outward. Her classes are developed and designed to make you stronger, body and soul, and at the same time incorporate a sense of humor and fun. Each class includes breathwork, biomechanically aligned asana, and a simple philosophical theme designed to be relatable to your actual life, not some idea of how it’s “supposed” to be. Come find out for yourself, no experience necessary.

As a visual communicator and design educator by day, yoga teacher and practitioner by night, Kelly Murdoch-Kitt is a full-time holistic thinker who firmly believes in the importance of details. She has been involved in expressive physical activities from a young age, such as dance and theatre, and enjoys exploring correlations between teaching yoga and her background in communications and movement. Kelly’s design practice also makes her empathetic to the ways sedentary work affects the body: she incorporates thoughtful and playful poses into her classes to help relieve “computeritis.”   In addition to design, Kelly finds inspiration in exploring the outdoors, traveling with her husband, gardening, cooking, and making new friends. She is grateful to her close-knit family and to her many wonderful friends and teachers on both coasts, and strives to honor their wisdom and kindness in her own teachings.

Adam Baraz has trained at the Esalen Institute,  the Berkeley Acupressure Institute, Mckinnon Institute in Oakland, and the Pacific Center for Awareness and Bodywork in Kauai.  With a combined 1,000 hours clinical practice & study spanning a diverse range of techniques, his approach is to listen closely to the desires and needs of the client, and tailor the work accordingly. He is able to offer strong, active bodywork: invigorating Shiatsu, Structural Integration methods for postural alignment, Connective Tissue Therapy, sports massage, and mobilizations to increase range-of-motion in joints and ligaments. Complementing this, he also offer receptive, quiet-style work: soothing Esalen-style flows, Yin Tui-Na, and Jin Shin Acupressure to calm and balance the channels of the subtle body.  He finds that what makes a session of bodywork truly healing is: kind, mindful, open Presence—communicated through touch. His bodywork propels inner transformation, helping people relax deeply in their bodies and connect with themselves. Taking part in this kind of session—where a client leaves the table feeling more alive, aligned, and clear inside—is one of the greatest sources of joy and meaning in his life.

Ai has been studying yoga since 1996 and teaching since 2002. She has studied various methods of yoga, including  Anusara, Ashtanga, Iyengar, and Forrest.  Ai offers a space for students to move through the physical and mental limitations that have become habitual. Her classes challenge the boundaries of the students, but are safe and empowering as they learn how to align body, breath and mind.  Students often quote her teaching as “calm, focused, exquisitely clear and precise about her language, while remaining grounded and slow and peaceful.”  When she is not on a yoga mat, she works as an epidemiologist trying to find causes of cancer and cancer-related conditions.  She is interested in integrating both of her passions (yoga and science) to demonstrate how yoga helps the health of our body and mind scientifically.

Originally from a suburb town of Corpus Christi, TX, Jeremiah found yoga early in 2004 by taking a kinesiology course in college, and just never quit.  Even after the course, he continued to practice on his own at home, taking the occasional class at school, and referring to his first yoga text book (Yoga the Iyengar Way) for little tips.  Upon moving to Austin in 2006, he began practicing at a local studio and instantly found that there was a whole new exciting depth to yoga that he had never felt before.  After practicing Ashtanga Vinyasa, Hatha Flow, and various types of yoga, he began teacher training in early 2007 and has been teaching ever since.

Jeremiah’s roots in yoga are in the Iyengar method and he still greatly calls upon the method to inform his practice, study, and teaching of Anusara yoga.  He has taught along the lines of Anusara yoga since he began teaching, and is actively pursuing his Anusara certification.  Jeremiah finds this practice to be a constant process of learning and understanding.  It is for the sake of living life more knowledgably, harmoniously, and happily with oneself and others.  Jeremiah’s classes are geared toward personal discovery, through focused physical and mental attention, while always remembering our individual intrinsic beauty.

Jeremiah holds a degree in Theatre and is an Anusara-Inspired™ Yoga teacher.

Yoga Teacher Training with Katchie Ananda

based in Anusara principles of alignment & Tantric and Buddhist Philosophy

Begins October 6, 2012

2012 Teacher Training Program

Katchie designed a training that she herself would like to take if she had the chance today.

Katchie will only be accepting 30 students and it will fill quickly. Please let her know if you are interested in the training.  This will be an “old fashioned” teacher training in that Katchie will mentor each and every student throughout the course.  This will be a unique opportunity to study with one of the Bay Area’s most skillful and experienced yoga teachers.

Teaching yoga is both an art and a science. In order to teach with confidence and skill, it is important to understand the poses, their benefits and applications. The emphasis of this program is learning to teach the poses in the Anusara method, which includes heart-oriented languaging and Universal Principles of Alignment. It is a comprehensive training for Anusara teachers to fine-tune their teaching skills and understanding, and for experienced students who want to pursue teaching.

The program includes monthly written homework assignments, quizzes and readings from assigned texts, and practice teaching skills. Students come away with a strong foundation in the philosophy of yoga, skill in seeing and adjusting poses, an ability to articulate pose instructions clearly and succinctly, and language skills to inspire students to express their poses from the inside out.

Testimonials

“A Teacher Training experience with Katchie Ananda is like the budding of a rose—each subtle unfurling of petals, each artful teaching, reveals an ever deepening grace, beauty, and wisdom.”

“Katchie, unlike any other teacher I’ve known, has the ability to skillfully weave together a great understanding of philosophy, meditation, asana and passionate story-telling, while remaining completely friendly and relateable, her roots firmly in the earth, and a sense of humor that, I kid you not, may at times have you on the floor howling with laughter.”

“Katchie is intuitive, dedicated, inspirational and hysterical. She has an open, playful spirit paired with a deep, insightful wisdom. I didn’t even realize I wanted a teacher, but in the very first Katchie-class I went to, I thought, “Oh, now THIS is my teacher.”
