Ginger Coy brings a heartfelt joy to the practice and teaching of yoga. Ginger has been teaching since 2008 and practicing yoga since 2000, noticing from her first yoga classes that she liked standing up straight and stretching and her arms were sore! In 2006, she began her journey with Anusara yoga and immediately was drawn to Anusara’s bio-mechanics and its emphasis on heart opening. She has completed 200 hours of Anusara Teacher Training with Certified Anusara teacher, Stacey Rosenberg and assisted Stacey’s Immersion as well as her classes for 2 years. She also is grateful to and inspired by Desiree Rumbaugh, Laura Christensen, and Abby Tucker.
Ginger is the founder of BayShakti.com, a blog she created for the Anusara community in the Bay Area. With about 30 contributors, Bay Shakti celebrates the shakti, or vitality, of the Bay Area by providing a forum for the community to share blog posts. Ginger, on behalf of Bay Shakti, has video interviewed notable teachers, Sianna Sherman, Darren Rhodes, and John Friend, among others. It is her wish to unite the community online to help uplift yoga teachers and students alike, by providing a blogging platform for them. It is her belief that sharing information is sharing energy, and as you share energy, you share a thread that connects you to others. As everyone shares different threads, the tapestry is woven, and the fabric of life is all the more richer. As one of us is uplifted so is the rest!
What you’ll find in Ginger’s classes is a welcoming quality of earnestness and a safe space for you to explore strengthening, alignment, and heart opening. Ginger combines playfulness and seriousness, and endeavors to be ‘seriously playful’.
