Ginger Coy brings a heartfelt joy to the practice and teaching of yoga.
Ginger has been practicing yoga for a decade, noticing from her first yoga classes that she liked standing up straight and stretching and her arms were sore! Four years ago she began her journey with Anusara yoga and immediately was drawn to Anusara's biomechanics and its emphasis on heart opening. She has completed 200 hours of Anusara Teacher Training with certified teacher, Stacey Rosenberg and has assisted Stacey's Immersion as well as her classes for 2 years. She also is grateful to and inspired by Sianna Sherman, Desiree Rumbaugh, Darcy Lyon, Kenny Graham, Abby Tucker and of course, John Friend.
Ginger is the founder of Bay Shakti, a blog she created for the Anusara community in the Bay Area (bayshakti.com). Bay Shakti celebrates the shakti, or vitality, of the Bay Area by providing a forum for the community to share information on all things Anusara. Ginger, on behalf of Bay Shakti, has interviewed notable teachers, Sianna Sherman, Darren Rhodes, and John Friend. It is her wish to unite the community online to help uplift all Anusara yoga teachers and students alike, by providing a blogging platform for them. It is her belief that sharing information is sharing energy, and as you share energy, you share a thread that connects you to others. As everyone shares different threads, the tapestry is woven, and the fabric of life is all the more richer. As one of us is uplifted so is the rest!
What you'll find in Ginger's classes is a welcoming quality of earnestness and a safe space for you to explore strengthening, alignment, and heart opening. Ginger combines playfulness and seriousness, and endeavors to be 'seriously playful' and true to the spirit of Anusara yoga.
Ginger has been teaching for 2 years and recently transitioned from a decade of working in technology in Corporate America to teaching full-time to serve the community and to spread the healing and transformational power of yoga. She believes that teaching yoga is her calling and her dharma (life's purpose), and she is committing fully to it!
