Marianne teaches Anusara-Inspired flow classes. In addition to over 600 hours of formal training, she brings to her classes her love for music, dance, and poetry, as well as her qualification as a certified massage therapist. Her aim is to create a nurturing atmosphere in which students can experience yoga as a life-restoring practice and find a joyful reconnection with breath, body, and highest self.
Marianne started her yoga practice in 1998, with certified Anusara teacher, Danielle Hougard. She is grateful for this auspicious start and for her subsequent (and ongoing) studies with many other inspiring Anusara teachers, including Sianna Sherman, Abby Tucker, Maritza, and of course, Anusara-founder John Friend. Her yoga practice has also been enriched by her studies with other great teachers of our time: Mark Whitwell, Aadil Palkivala, and Rod Stryker. She started teaching in 2005 after an apprenticeship with Ulrika Engman.
Marianne appreciates yoga for its power to unfold who she is and live life with more joy and authenticity, on every level--physical, emotional, and spiritual. In 2007, Marianne was diagnosed with breast cancer, and she credits her extraordinary recovery to early detection, the skill and care of her surgical team, the dedicated support of family and friends, and--her yoga practice. The experience has deepened her sense of purpose and has increased her motivation to share the benefits of yoga with others.
