The Anusara Yoga Immersion program is a 108-hour training designed to meet the prerequisites of Anusara Yoga certification. In this comprehensive training, students will study every aspect of Anusara Yoga in detail. This includes: all asanas from the Level 1 and 2 syllabi, yoga philosophy, all components of the biomechanics and the opportunity to be with great company and in the circle of friendship.

In this Wheel of Life Immersion Series, there will be some time together to honor the auspicious days of the earth's rhythms in conjunction with the solar and lunar cycles. Special guest Brenda Rose Villa will facilitate ceremony and meditation in selected evening programs.

Each week builds upon the previous and each week is a prerequisite to the following week. Students with prerequisites fulfilled for Week 1 or 2 may join in for the later portion of the training accordingly.

Anusara Yoga Immersion and Teacher Training Programs

We offer two programs-- Phase 1: Anusara Immersion and Phase 2: The Art of Teaching. Students wanting a deeper understanding of the Anusara style (asana alignment and philosophy) are welcome to take these programs.

These comprehensive programs will transform your practice and teaching, as well as your life. The Immersion program covers every aspect of yoga, asana (postures), pranayama (breath work), meditation, therapeutics, philosophy. The Teacher Training program covers the art and technique of teaching Anusara yoga. Becoming a great yoga teacher requires a willingness to unveil your authentic nature - a process of effortful practice, joyful exploration, and continual transformation. These trainings offer a supportive environment for you to become such a teacher. Pre-requisite: 30 class hours of Anusara Yoga.

 


DESCRIPTION OF PROGRAMS

PHASE 1: THE IMMERSION PROGRAM

Delves into all aspects of Anusara Yoga, including the Universal Principles of Alignment and the philosophical foundation. This is an excellent program for those wanting to get a fuller experience of the Anusara style. The Immersion Program delves into all aspects of Anusara Yoga, in a comprehensive and ecstatic way. Designed for the enthusiastic student who desires to be deeply rooted in the practice of Anusara Yoga as well as for those yogins who wish to continue in the Teacher Training Program.

PHASE 2: THE ART OF TEACHING ANUSARA YOGA

The Art of Teaching Program explores the essential Anusara teaching methodologies that will enable participants to safely and effectively share the gift of yoga with others, and inspire those already teaching to new levels.

We'll focus on:
1. Inspiring your students to move from the inside out.
2. Using effective language.
3. Weaving heart-felt themes and philosophy into your classes.
4. Sequencing classes of varying levels.
4. Holding the auspicious responsibility of the teacher.

Those applying for the Teacher Training Program at YogaKula need to have completed an Anusara Immersion (108 hours).

Completing both the Immersion and the teacher Training Program will fulfill requirements for 200-hour Certification with Yoga Alliance. The hours you accrue can also be credited toward Anusara Teachers Certification.

Noah Maze
is a certified Anusara Yoga instructor who currently lives in Los Angeles. His students consistently soar to new levels — a testament to his uplifting, energetic, expressive style that integrates the depth of his knowledge of the principles and practices of yoga. Katchie Ananda , cofounder of Yoga Sangha, is an activist, dancer, artist, priestess and yogini. A former dancer in Switzerland and Brazil, Katchie has devoted more then twenty years to the study and integration of Yoga, and has been leading others along the path for almost two decades. She has studied Anusara, Jivamukti, Integral, and Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga and indebted to her teachers Sharon Gannon, David Life, Richard Freeman and John Friend. She is certified in Anusara, Jivamukti and Integral Yoga as well as having completed several teacher trainings with Richard Freeman. By working with authors and activists John and Ocean Robbins, Julia Butterfly Hill and others, Katchie has been sharing information about human and animal rights, protection of the environment and social justice in her yoga classes. Deeply inspired by her teacher, Jack Kornfield, Katchie is an avid practitioner of Vipassana Meditation and lives in the San Francisco Bay Area, California. Madhuri Martin has trained with Richard Freeman and Shri K Pattabhi Jois since 1986. In 1990, she began her studies with John Friend, embracing his principles of structural and spiritual alignment. In 1996 she apprenticed as John's main assistant for six years where she was trained intimately and intensively by John in the intricacies and subtitles on Anusara philosophy and principles. Howard Cohn has practiced meditation since 1972, has led vipassana retreats since 1984 and leads an ongoing class in San Francisco. He has studied with many Asian and Western teachers of several traditions, including Theravada, Zen, Dzoghchen and Advaita Vedanta, and has been strongly influenced by contact with the Indian master H.W.L. Poonja. Howard has done postgraduate work in East/West Psychology and has a private counseling practice.

Scott Blossom is a Traditional Chinese Medical practitioner, yoga therapist, and Ayurvedic consultant. He has been studying yoga for over fourteen years and teaching yoga for nine. He holds a degree in biology and has extensively studied anatomy, physiology, and Ayurveda (East Indian traditional medicine) with Dr. Robert Svoboda. www.shunyatayoga.com

Skeeter Barker is renowned for her authenticity, compassion, insight and professionalism. She has pursued her spiritual, psychological and emotional evolution with a true warrior spirit.
