Yoga Nidra, or “Yogic Sleep”, is a state between sleeping and waking. You will be guided on a systematic journey to the deep, quiet layers of the self. Practitioners can experience a deep state of relaxation while maintaining “a trace of awareness”. Yoga Nidra calms the mind, restores the nervous system, and increases resilience.
This class will begin with gentle yoga postures to help you transition from the external world toward the more inner landscape. The second half of the class is a guided relaxation/ meditation done lying down in a comfortable reclining position.
Aside from being relaxing, restorative and restful, studies have shown that Yoga Nidra can:
Decrease chronic pain
Heighten awareness and focus
Transform negative habits, behaviors and ways of thinking
Foster feelings of peace, calm, and clarity
*Wear comfortable yoga clothing
*No meditation or yoga experience needed.
*The majority of class will be spent in a laying down position. Feel free to bring your favorite pillow (we will have blankets and bolsters available at the studio for you)
*Your body temperature will drop as you relax. You may want to bring warm layers and socks!

Anne began her journey with yoga and meditation in 2008. After relocating from New York City to San Francisco in 2012, she decided to share her passion for yoga with others. She is a certified E-RYT-200 and RYT-500, having completed her 200-hour teacher training at Yoga Tree in San Francisco and her 500-hour teacher training with her teachers Brenna Geehan and Jean Mazzei at Sri Yoga.
Anne believes yoga has the power to transform one’s life from the inside out, providing students the tools to bring strength and ease into their lives to confidently face whatever life experiences come their way. Her mission as a teacher is to hold space for students to go deeply inward so that they can cultivate a stronger connection to self. Anne believes that through this connection students can find their own unique power and expression of joy within the world.
