Welcome the turning of the year with two nourishing hours of movement, rest, and inner reflection. In this candlelit New Year’s Eve workshop, Antonia will guide you through a soothing progression of gentle yoga to ease tension from the body, restorative postures to replenish your energy, breathwork to balance the nervous system, and meditation to settle the mind and heart.
As the year draws to a close, you’ll be invited to slow down, soften inward, and reconnect with what supports you most. An optional intention-setting practice will help you step into the new year with clarity, presence, and grounded inspiration. This workshop is designed as a sanctuary—quiet, spacious, and welcoming for all bodies and experience levels. No prior yoga experience is needed. Join us in community as we honor the close of 2024 and create space for renewal in the year ahead.
Antonia Fokken is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, Yoga Therapist, and Yoga Teacher whose work is rooted in more than three decades of dedicated study at the intersection of psychology, somatics, and contemplative practice. Her journey began in 1994 at San Francisco State University, where she completed a B.A. in Psychology with an emphasis on Eastern perspectives on holistic health. There she was introduced to hatha yoga, meditation, biofeedback, and guided imagery—an experience that sparked her lifelong fascination with the profound interplay between mind and body. Antonia went on to earn an M.A. in Art Therapy and Marriage and Family Therapy from the College of Notre Dame in 1998, where her graduate research explored the physiological effects of drawing mandalas on heart rate and blood pressure. Since becoming a licensed psychotherapist in 2001, a certified yoga teacher in 2005, and a yoga therapist in 2008, Antonia has immersed herself in numerous complementary disciplines. Her formal training includes Bioenergetics with Alexander Lowen’s lineage, Restorative Yoga with Judith Lasater, Yoga Nidra (iRest) with Richard Miller, mentorship with Abby Tucker, and extensive study in Sensorimotor Psychotherapy for trauma treatment. Her work is equally informed by Vipassana meditation, Nonviolent Communication, trauma-informed care, and the wisdom gleaned from her students and clients. Antonia holds a deep conviction that yoga is for everyone, and she is committed to creating classes and therapeutic spaces that are inclusive, empowering, and profoundly supportive.
